Why we’re doing this

Roads and Maritime Services widened Euston and Campbell roads to accommodate the WestConnex motorway. This road widening resulted in significant tree removals, demolished park facilities including public toilets and the wider access and features of the park.

These proposed works are part of the Sydney Park improvement project.

What we’re doing

This project will see new entry and frontage treatments along Euston and Campbell roads, including new plants and park infrastructure. The design will enhance the safety, functionality and features of the park boundary for people walking and riding bikes, and park visitors.

Works will include:

  • reconstructing park entries and park infrastructure
  • planting new trees and groundcover
  • new barbecues and picnic settings
  • new toilet block

These works will require the removal of 1 small tree.

The new toilet block will be designed in the same way as existing facilities in Sydney Park. It will be a safe and accessible facility for people visiting the park. The design will integrate with the surrounding wetlands landscape while servicing the nearby barbecue area.

Works for the new toilet block include:

  • 2 unisex ambulant cubicles
  • 1 unisex accessible family toilet cubicle
  • shared handwash basin
  • shade canopy
  • new electrical and sewer trenching to connect services to Euston Road

The proposal has minimal impacts to 2 surrounding trees and will require the removal of 1 small tree.
