Request to repair or replace a bin

About 1 week – you’ll be given a scheduled delivery day when ordering.
Repairs and most bin replacements are free. Fees may apply for some missing red lid bins.

When you need to do this

What you need to do

Before you start

We’ll need details about your bin:

  • Lid colour
  • Bin size (check the rim under the lid)

If you don’t know the size of your missing bin, you’ll be shown it when you make your request.

Submit your request by 2pm on the business day before your next collection to receive service that week. Requests received later will be scheduled for the following week.

If the scheduled bin collection day falls on a public holiday, your delivery or repair will be on the next business day.

Replacement bin costs

You may need to pay to replace a missing red lid (rubbish) bin if you exceed the free limit.

It’s free to replace missing yellow (recycling), green (garden organics) or maroon (food scraps) lid bins.

When you’ll be charged

From 1 July, there’s a limit on how many free replacement red lid bins each property can request per financial year.

Free replacement limits:

  • Houses: one free replacement bin
  • Apartments or shared services: 2 free replacement bins

These charges will apply from late 2026. If you’ve already used your free replacements, you may need to pay before we can provide another replacement bin.

Replacement costs for missing red lid bins

The size of your missing bin will be shown when requesting your replacement.
