Self-help groups can book spaces at our community venues for bookings starting 1 July

We've reduced the bookings at our venues to comply with NSW Health orders and support the health and safety of our staff and visitors.

Our community centre services and programs are running at a reduced level and you'll need to book a session to attend.

We continue to offer online programs.

Community venue in Redfern

Ron Williams Community Centre is located in Kepos Street, Redfern.

It hosts several community activities during business hours. A community worker onsite also provides support and referrals to services, including housing, counselling and home care.

Facilities available at the centre include computers and wifi, table tennis and pool tables, washing machine/dryer and showers.

The centre also has a room available for hire on weeknights and weekends that is ideal for hosting community events and gatherings.

Venue hire information

Suitable for meetings, training programs and forums. The centre is situated on the ground floor and is carpeted.

It is available for hire Monday to Friday from 4pm to midnight and on weekends from 7am to midnight.

Please note, we require 2 weeks notice to make a booking at a community venue that is not staffed.


The room is 20 metres by 12 metres.


  • dinner: 60 people
  • cocktail party: 100 people
  • theatre: 60 people.


Kitchen with:

  • microwave
  • instant hot water (Zip system).


  • 12 round tables (each seats 4 people)
  • 50 chairs
  • public address (PA) system
  • air-conditioning
  • pool table.

Special considerations

  • Noise needs to be kept to a minimum, residential area.
  • Additional cleaning can be arranged.
  • Some functions may require security.
  • Alcohol is not permitted.


Wheelchair access is by ramp at the entrance to the centre.

Transport and parking

  • Central and Redfern stations are within walking distance.
  • Bus routes 352, 393 and 395 stop on Cleveland Street, near Crown Street.
  • Bus route M20 stops on Phillip Street, near Baptist Street.
  • Limited 2-hour parking.

Standard room hire fees

  • weekdays until 5pm: $46 an hour
  • weekdays after 5pm, all day on weekends and on public holidays: $50 an hour
  • day rate (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm only): $275 a day
  • weekend full day rate, including public holidays (8am to midnight): $500 a day
  • community hire rate: 50% discount on standard hire rate.

  • election surcharge: $1,250 an election
  • cleaning fee: quotation available on request
  • security fee: quotation available on request
  • room set-up fee: quotation available on request
  • wedding surcharge: booking fee + 10%
  • lighting rig operator (Glebe Town Hall only)
  • additional site inspection (1 included each booking): $81.50
  • self help groups – 50% discount applies to community/not-for-profit organisations/social enterprise fee – available to self-help and support groups on application only (conditions apply)
