Enjoy lots of choice in video

Our film and TV collections have something for everyone. You can borrow as many as 30 DVDs and 3 GoChip Beams free for up to 3 weeks.

Fees apply for lost or damaged items. Alternatively members can replace the lost or damaged item or part, with the exact item or model number and must be in new condition. 

GoChip Beams

You can borrow a GoChip Beam (portable wireless broadcaster) to watch TV shows and movies anytime, anywhere and on any device.

Each GoChip comes loaded with 5 movies or a TV series. Movies are grouped by genre such as comedy, crime, romance, action and family drama.

You can connect up to 8 devices to the same GoChip at the same time.

Library members can borrow 3 GoChips for up to 3 weeks. GoChips can be reserved using the online catalogue however they need to be collected from a staffed branch. GoChips can be returned to any branch. GoChips are only available to browse on-shelf at Green Square Library. 

DVDs

The DVD collection includes new movies, classics, documentaries, children’s titles and a huge range of TV series.

Search for DVDs using the online catalogue.

Stream

Library members can stream and view over 30,000 of the world’s best films online for free with Kanopy and Beamafilm. Choose from new releases, award-winning documentaries, independent and classics titles for both kids and adults. Movies are available for streaming with simultaneous remote access available anytime. There are no overdue items, reservations or waiting periods.

How to stream on Beamafilm

There are just 3 steps:

1. Visit the City’s Beamafilm emovie portal

Visit the City’s Beamafilm emovie portal. Enter your library card number with no spaces and click validate.

2. Browse emovies or search for an emovie title

Browse through new releases, popular movies, world cinema, documentaries and classic films.  Search for a title using the search box at the top.

Click on the image of the emovie you want to view.

3. Watch emovies

Press play video to view your movie.

Stream movies anytime on your computer/device with internet access. 

How to stream on Kanopy

Library members can stream up to 5 movies each month.

1. Visit the City’s Kanopy emovie portal

2. Create a Kanopy account

If you already have a Kanopy account, click on login. In the pop up window, enter your email and password. Click on login.

If you do not have a Kanopy account.

  1. Click on sign up in the upper right corner.
  2. Enter your first name, last name, email and chosen password.  Click on sign up.
  3. You will be sent a verification email to your email address.  Click verify my email to continue your account set up.
  4. Click add library card number.  Enter your library card number with no spaces and PIN.  Click Save.
  5. Click watch now at the bottom of the page to being watching.

3. Browse emovies or search for an emovie title

Browse through new releases, popular movies, world cinema, documentaries and classic films.  Search for a title using the search box at the top.

Click on the image of the emovie you want to view.

4. Watch emovies

Press play video to view your movie. Once you have starting playing your movie, you have 3 days (72 hours) to watch the film as many times as you would like to. 

Stream movies anytime on your computer/device with internet access. Films can also be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV or Chromecast.

You can track your available viewing credits from your account.
