Donate a book or historical item

Donations we accept

You can donate items to the City of Sydney Library if they fall into 1 of these 2 categories:

  • selected community languages
  • local historical items.

Please take these to your nearest library branch.

The library accepts books in new condition, or published less than 2 years ago, in the following languages:

  • Chinese
  • Indonesian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Thai

Please note, once we accept them, donations become the library's property. We reserve the right to dispose of any donated materials at a later date.

Photographs can be donated to the City's Archives. Donated photographs must include individual captions including the subject, date it was taken and the names of any individuals pictured.
