The City archives holds more than one million records from 1842, when the Council was established, to recent years.

  • Not sure where to start? Let us know what you’re looking for and request a City record.
  • We provide a digital copying service.
  • If the archives you seek aren't available digitally, a reading room service is available by appointment. Contact us for assistance. Reading room availability may change at short notice due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

Before you start

This collection includes development and building applications and related records. Only those records that have been transferred to the City Archives are available through this site with the most recent being about 2008. For more recent records, search development applications.

Under the GIPA Act certain information, known as open access information, must be disclosed by us unless it is not in the public interest to do so. View our directory of open access information.
