We’re reviewing our Central Sydney on-street parking policy to make sure it continues to meet the needs of our growing city.
The policy helps us manage parking in Central Sydney and make sure important uses get priority access to kerbside space.
Demand for parking in our city will always exceed supply. Offering other transport options like walking, cycling, public transport and car sharing helps free up parking spaces for people who need to drive.
The policy aims to manage parking in a way that works for most people as we plan for more residents, workers and visitors.
The policy has not been reviewed significantly since 2015. This review considers the introduction of light rail and the metro, and the effects of the pandemic.
We’re proposing minor updates to the policy to make it easier to understand and align it with our strategies and plans.
Proposed changes to the policy:
Your feedback on the draft Central Sydney on-street parking policy will be reported to Council for consideration in 2025.
Consultation closes at 5pm on Friday 21 February 2025
