We updated our grants guidelines and policy in July 2026.

The 4 grants programs are now creative, social and community, economic and environmental.

While we continue to support projects and initiatives funded under our previous grants program, there are different opportunities and expanded eligibility in some programs and categories.

Other key changes

Our main funding round opens in late July each year, making it easier for people to plan their applications ahead of time. This allows us to consider all applications together, sharing funding across different projects, community benefits and organisations.

Our quick response grants, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander collaboration fund and value-in-kind programs are open all year. Opportunities to apply for our accommodation, creative live and work space and short-term empty property grants open when spaces become available.
To help applicants get organised we:
- publish information about our main funding round and opportunities for support weeks before the grants open
- open annual application rounds for 6 weeks instead of 4.
Decisions about the annual July round are announced in November for projects starting from 1 January.

This gives applicants more time and assurance of funding for the coming year.
We’ve made it easier to talk to our grants team in person or online.

When our annual round is open you can:
- book time online to talk to us
- book time to visit the team in person at our libraries or community centres.
We also have online webinars and grants writing workshops.
