Join the Sydney Lunar Festival associated event program

Businesses and community groups can be part of the biggest Lunar New Year celebrations outside Asia.

We invite restaurants, community groups and local businesses to take part in the 2026 Sydney Lunar Festival.

Previous events have included special dishes and meals at local restaurants, workshops, talks, exhibitions and performances.

Now in its 30th year, the festival has become the largest celebration of the Lunar New Year outside Asia.

Sydney Lunar Festival will take place from Saturday 14 February to Sunday 1 March 2026.

Event benefits

Businesses participating in the Sydney Lunar Festival program will be part of an event with a national and international audience and receive the Sydney Lunar Festival 2026 marketing tool kit.

Marketing opportunities

Events part of the program may be featured in:

  • Sydney Lunar Festival editorial articles on our What’s On website
  • our weekly What’s On newsletter in February with more than 33,000 subscribers
  • Facebook and Instagram posts.

Listing an event on What’s On doesn’t guarantee inclusion in the program. If you list your event to What’s On and aren’t accepted to the associated events program, we may not include your event in our marketing opportunities.

Eligibility criteria

To be part of the program your event must:

  • take place from 14 February to 1 March 2026
  • celebrate the Year of the Horse and
  • be open to the general public.

Associated event organisers must accept the terms and conditions.

Acceptance into the associated events program is at our discretion.

We don’t fund associated events.

Timeline

  • Applications close at 11am on Wednesday 14 January 2026.
  • We’ll review your event and let you know if it will be included in the Sydney Lunar Festival program by Wednesday 21 January.
  • Applicants must submit their What’s On listing prior to completing the application form to be considered.
  • Applications received after the closing date will only be considered for website event listing, not additional marketing opportunities.

If you took part in Sydney Lunar Festival 2025 and already have a What’s On listing for the same event, please update this instead of creating a new one.

We’ll incorporate your event into the Sydney Lunar Festival webpage and where appropriate use the details from your listing to feature on marketing materials.
