Proposed changes to planning controls for 2A, 2-8 Arundel Street and 6-12 Parramatta Road, Forest Lodge

What we’re doing

The proposed changes will rezone the site to allow a broader range of uses consistent with the area’s existing character. It will specifically rezone land currently zoned SP2 Infrastructure (Educational), which limits the land to educational or related uses, to R1 General Residential and MU1 Mixed Use.

The changes will not affect the development controls applied to the site and are only to support a wider range of uses. The rezoning will support residential uses within existing terrace dwellings, and a range of compatible uses on the office building at 2A Arundel Street, the Mackie Building.

This planning proposal is considered minor and aligned with the City of Sydney’s strategic vision for the area.

The documents for this public consultation include a planning proposal to amend the Sydney Local Environmental Plan 2012.

Why we’re doing this

The properties are owned by the University of Sydney but no longer required for university purposes.
