Apply for or renew a business parking permit
When you’ve applied and paid online, we can email your interim parking permit to use until you receive the official version.
Fees vary and concessions apply for vehicles in the green vehicle guide.
When you need to do this
Your business may be eligible for a parking permit if it requires a vehicle for carrying goods or equipment, doesn’t have any onsite car spaces and can’t reasonably modify the premises to provide parking.
Business permits aren’t provided for vehicles primarily used for employee travel, attending business appointments, or commuting to a place of employment or business.
What you need to do
The vehicle must:
- be registered in the name of a business, or a principal of the business
- be registered for business use
- be used for the purposes of carrying goods and equipment
- not be a truck or bus exceeding 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass
You also need to be at an eligible address.
Apply for a permit
Renew a permit
You can renew a permit up to one month before it expires. Use the link below. We’ll also email you a reminder.
After payment, you’ll receive a temporary permit by email. Print and display this on your vehicle until your new permit arrives.
Avoid a gap in coverage and apply at least 2 weeks before your current permit expires.
Before you start
What you need to provide
- Current vehicle registration papers showing:
- business name
- business address
- vehicle details.
- Business registration certificate.
- One of the following:
- current commercial lease
- business utility bill (for example, electricity, gas, phone).
- Description of the goods or equipment the vehicle carries.

How your fees are calculated
Environmental discounts: We aim to demonstrate environmental leadership and are committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions to address climate change.
Green vehicle guide rating: The scaled annual permit fees are based on the star rating of your vehicle in the federal government’s green vehicle guide.
After you finish
Once you’ve submitted your application and payment online, we’ll contact you about your permit.
If your application is approved, we’ll email you an interim parking permit to use until your official permit is issued.
If you need your permit urgently, you may choose to collect it in person after completing your online application.
