Apply for a residential visitor parking permit
When you need to do this
If you have visitors to your home you can apply for residential visitor parking permits. Other visitor permits include tradespersons and carers.
Visitor permits take the form of single-use, one-day scratchies. The permit is held by the eligible household and can be given to a visitor to display on their car, to avoid time limits and parking fees.
Permits are only valid in the numbered area shown on permits and parking signs.

When you apply for a permit, the application form will begin by checking if your address is eligible. If you're not eligible for a parking permit, the form will let you know.

Documents required
You must provide 2 documents verifying your residential address. These documents must show your name and residential address. Documents addressed to a post office box will not be accepted.
Acceptable documents include:
- utility bill (electricity, gas, water)
- phone bill
- bank statement
- pension/health care card
- current lease
- driver licence
- council rates notice
- electoral card
- other official government correspondence.
If you bought or began renting the property in the last 12 months, you will need to provide a contract of sale or lease agreement as one of your 2 documents.
If you own the property that you reside in, you can choose rates notice as a document type. We will use your rates notice to verify your name and address. You won’t need to upload your rates notice.
Documents relating to your vehicle cannot be used as proof of residence.
After you finish
Once your form and payment are received and if complete, your application will be processed and any permit(s) for which you are eligible will be posted to you within 5 working days.
