Library membership and your City of Sydney account

If you have a library membership and your email address is only used in 1 library membership, we’ve created a City of Sydney account for you. Follow these steps to log in using your new City of Sydney account.

1. Go to the library online catalogue and select Log in
2. Log in using your email and if this is your first log in use your current library PIN as your password
3. You’ll be prompted to change your password  
4. Follow the prompts

If you’re using your email address for additional memberships for children or other family members for example, a City of Sydney account wasn’t automatically created for you.

You can easily create a City of Sydney account and add your library membership now.

1. Go to the library online catalogue and select Log in
2. Select Create an account and follow the prompts
3. When the account is created, select Already have a library account
4. Log in with your library barcode and PIN
5. Your library membership will then be added to your City of Sydney account

Only 1 library membership can be linked to a City of Sydney account. To access your additional library accounts you can choose to:

1. Create a City of Sydney account using a different email address and link it to another library membership as above
2. Continue using the barcode or alias to log in to these other memberships.

You can change the City of Sydney account your library membership is linked to. 

1. Go to the library online catalogue and select Log in 
2. Log in using your City of Sydney account email and password 
3. From the member details page, select Update member login details
4. Select update email and follow the prompts

You can change your details in your City of Sydney account including your email address, name and  phone number.

Select Update login details on the library member details page.

Contact us on 02 9265 9333, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm to unlink your library membership from your City of Sydney account.

Email [email protected] to cancel or deactivate your City of Sydney account.

You’ll need to send the email from the address associated with your City of Sydney account as proof that you’re the account holder.

2. Select Create an account and follow the prompts
3. When the account is created, select Join the library
4. Follow the prompts to complete the library membership form

If you don’t have an email address you can still join the library.

1. Go to the library online catalogue and select Join
2. Select Create an account and then the option I don’t have an email
3. Follow the prompts to compete the library membership form

If you have a City of Sydney account, it’s easy to complete a membership form to join our library.

1. Go to the library online catalogue and select Join
2. Log in using your City of Sydney account email and password
3. Select Join the library
4. Follow the prompts to compete the library membership form

Soon you’ll be able to connect many City of Sydney services to your account. Right now, you can use your account to list events free on Sydney’s most trusted events platform, What’s On.

You’ll need to use your library barcode and PIN for access to digital resources like ebooks, emagazines, movie streaming and the new library app.

3. Log out of your account when you’ve finished using it
