Planning for Sydney 2050 – Your ideas for action

Closed

We received more than 1,300 ideas! The Sydney 2050 citizens jury will now consider them before it reports to Council.

Citizens jury

Since November 2018, we've undertaken extensive community consultation to help inform the vision for a new plan for Sydney to 2050.

The next phase of the plan will allow everyone who has an interest in Sydney to express their ideas that will help shape the future of our city.

Send your ideas for action

We invite everyone who lives, works, studies, does business in or visits Sydney to send us your ideas. We’re looking for large-scale transformative ideas to help realise the vision for Sydney.

We’re collecting ideas until Saturday 31 August 2019. You can send us your idea for action and see all the ideas that have been added online.

Citizens jury

A citizens jury includes everyday people directly in the process of decision making.

Between August and November 2019, a citizens jury will consider and make recommendations on the ideas we receive. A citizens jury is made up of everyday people from the community who bring their local knowledge and develop a consensus on the recommendations they will bring to Council.

The jury will be asked to consider: What concepts should be implemented in Sydney by 2050?

The City is partnering with newDemocracy, a leading foundation working in citizen participation, to design and oversee the jury process.

The jury will be made up of 50 randomly selected citizens who live, work or visit the city. It will meet periodically between August and November to deliberate and form a response to the question.

The outcomes from the jury will be acknowledged and incorporated in the plan for Sydney to 2050.

Observers at the jury meetings are welcome. If you would like to attend a meeting please contact Kyle Redman at newDemocracy at kyle.redman@newdemocracy.com.au. Observers will be asked to abide by the observer code of conduct.
