We are committed to improving our local parks and playgrounds through innovative urban design.

While we make improvements to existing facilities we also aim to create more green space with new parklands across the local area.

Current works

Upgrade works for Palmerston Avenue Steps & Sarah Peninton Reserve

We’ll soon start work to upgrade Palmerston Avenue Steps and Sarah Peninton Reserve in Glebe to help people move around more easily and provide a greener and more pleasant space.

Installing new outdoor fitness hub at Pirrama Park

We’ll soon start work to install a new outdoor fitness hub at Pirrama Park on the northern lawn

Fig Lane Playground upgrade

We've started work to improve Fig Lane Playground in Jones Street, Ultimo.

Kings Lane Reserve upgrade

We've started work to upgrade Kings Lane Reserve between Bourke Street and Thomson Street in Darlinghurst.

New water treatment plant at Sydney Park

The new water treatment plant will have more capacity for future expansion, and will be located at the Nursery Depot in Sydney Park.

New skate park, Sydney Park

We've started work on a new skate park in Sydney Park.

Upgrade works on Daniel Dawson Reserve, Alexandria

We’ll soon start work in Daniel Dawson Reserve in Alexandria to improve the park and playground for everyone to enjoy.

Improving The Crescent and Federal Park

Work has started again now with a new contractor at The Crescent and Federal Park at Johnstons Creek in Annandale, to create more green open spaces and recreational areas for everyone to enjoy.

Wimbo Park redesign

We will create a bigger, better and more pleasant Wimbo Park, extending from Bourke Street to South Dowling Street.

The Drying Green

Green Square’s central park will be named The Drying Green to celebrate its industrial past. Lawns, trees, barbecues and shade structures will create a wonderful place for friends and family to gather and play.

Hyde Park works

The City's program of works to maintain and improve Hyde Park, includes tree replanting, refurbishing the Pool of Reflection, maintenance and upgrades to paths, and building a new cafe and outdoor seating area alongside Museum station.

Shannon Reserve Playground upgrade

We’ll soon start work to improve Shannon Reserve Playground in Surry Hills.

Completed works

Womerah Gardens upgrade

We've completed work in Womerah Gardens in Womerah Avenue, Darlinghurst, improving the gardens for everyone to enjoy.

Ross Street Playground upgrade

We've upgraded Ross Street Playground in Forest Lodge to provide better access, new play equipment and places to sit.

New outdoor fitness area in Waterloo Park

We've installed a new outdoor fitness area in Waterloo Park, Waterloo, for locals and visitors to enjoy.

Lance preschool playground upgrade

We've upgraded the Lance preschool playground, making it a more pleasant and safe space for children to enjoy.

Improving Chelsea Street Reserve

We've upgraded Chelsea Street Reserve in Redfern. This work, which follows the award winning upgrade completed in 2015, has improved the reserve for everyone to enjoy.
